Dangerous area of slope failure is the
escarpment steep slope (angle > 30 degrees, and height > 5 m) susceptible
to collapse which has a possibility of damaging more than 5 houses or
public facilities such as school and so on.
Dangerous area of slope failure is identified by the investigation of
the geomorphological and geological condition and the historical records
of slope failure. The techniques of investigation are based on the guideline
edited by Ministry of Construction.
In our prefecture, we conducted the investigation of the dangerous area
of slope failure based on the new national guideline in 2001. According
to this investigation, there are 12,247 dangerous areas of slope failure.
Such an investigation is carried out about every 5 years. We are also
carrying out the investigation through aerial photograph based on the
new investigational guideline.
