The north part of Wakayama Prefecture belongs to the Setouchi climate division and the southern part belongs to the Nankai climate division effected by Kuroshio.
Both of these climates are mild throughout year. In contrast, in mountainous area, temperature is low in winter and it is a hard climate.
Annual precipitation ranges about from 1,500 to 2,000 mm in the north part of Wakayama and the coast area of Kii Channel and that in the southern part is greater than 2,000 mm. Mountainous area has a lot of rain, exceeding 3,000 mm. |
