Wakayama is served by a superb infrastructure that includes expressways,
high-speed rail links, an international container port and easy access to Kansai
International Airport (KIX). The airport operates 24 hours a day (unlike Tokyo's Narita Airport), can be reached in 30 minutes, and is actually closer to Wakayama City than it is to Osaka City. In addition to KIX, Wakayama has it's own domestic airport at Nanki-Shirahama with a one hour flight time to Tokyo's Haneda Airport, which in turn provides much more convenient access to central Tokyo than does Narita. Airport to Wakayama City:
