なめらかな手触り、優しい質感、使い込むほどに表情を豊かにする。自然が作った芸術品「皮革」は、いつの時代にあっても人々のこころをとらえる魅力を秘めています。耐久性や通気性など機能面、また嗜好品・芸術として柔軟に姿を変えるデザイン性においても ”天然”の皮革にかわるものはありません。
和歌山県はこの皮革業において、兵庫、東京とともにわが国の製革業の三大生産地に数えられています。その歴史は江戸慶長年間にさかのぼり、明治時代には外国人技師を招き多くの技術を習得しました。また、昭和24年には和歌山県の皮革産業のより一層の振興と発展を目指し「和歌山県製革事業協同組合」が設立されるなど、技術力を持った専門集団として、互いに啓発しつつ研究を積み重ね着実な成長を遂げてきました。
今、和歌山の皮革製品は、大量生産では得ることのできない個性とオリジナリティを持つ高級皮革商品として、ゆるぎない地位と評価を獲得しています。

Wakayama is known as one of the 3major producing districts in Japan along with Hyogo and Tokyo. The history goes back to Edo era and in Meiji era, we invited foreign experts and learned many techniques. In 1949 Wakayama Leather Manufacturers Cooperative Association was established for advancement and expansion of the leather industry of Wakayama. They developed steadily, enlightening each other and studying as a group of specialists
Leather goods produced in Wakayama have acquired the status and reputation as high-quality leather goods with the originality which can ot be made from mass production.
